Integrity Marketing will be joining NAELA for their Advanced Elder
Law Institute to be held at the InterContinental Hotel in Kansas City
Oct. 23-26. Exhibit dates are Oct. 24 & 25.
Elder Law is one of the fastest growing areas in the legal
profession. The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) has over
5,000 members who dedicate themselves to the well-being and advocacy of
seniors and individuals with disabilities. These attorneys are attuned
to the social and medical aspects of aging as well as the legal issues
in areas such as Medicaid/Medicare, long-term care issues, age
discrimination, estate tax and gift issues, elder abuse, planning for
disability and contested medical decision-making. NAELA is expecting
approximately 300 to 350 attendees at their 2008 Institute in Kansas
City.
To register for this conference, visit their website at

Remember that hilarious episode of "Friends" where Ross convinces
Rachel, Phoebe and the others to sit down and write their wills and
designate durable power of attorney to each other in the event something
should happen to them? Of course you don't; it never happened. Come on,
who would believe that?

College-Area Properties Get Good Grades

Checklist as your teenager heads off to college: Don't forget to: a)
pay the tuition; b) have the safe-sex talk; c) have the
drinking-and-driving talk; and d) buy your student a house or condo.
Pardon the whiplash on that last one, but the fact is, many parents who
are financially able to do so are choosing to invest in real estate
close to campus for their college-bound offspring. In many cases, it's
preferable to shelling out dormitory fees or apartment rent.

Blended Families Face Estate Planning
Complications
by Jay MacDonald •
Bankrate.com
How would you like your ex-spouse to inherit
your house, your bank accounts and your retirement benefits despite the
fact you willed them to your children? What if your father's estate
wound up in the hands of your stepbrother even though dad promised the
farm to you? Such heartbreaking inheritance snafus happen with some
regularity to blended families, in which husband, wife or both bring
together assets and children from a previous marriage.

Kyle and Jennifer presented the results from our Practice Strategies
Survey at the Southern California Tax and Estate Planning Forum in San
Diego to kick-off Friday morning's general sessions. The Forum attracts
approximately 500 attorneys from across the southwest United States.
Following the presentation, Robert Fleming (author of the Elder Law
Answer Book) conducted an electronic survey of the group, with many of
their answers confirming those we obtained from our online survey.
Particularly interesting was feedback received from those in the
audience after the presentation. Most agreed that the key to success in
these changing times is to have a well-researched, comprehensive
marketing strategy. Several said that their practices are thriving, and
attributed their success to marketing plans with laser-focus.
If your group or association would like to host an event of this
type, inquiries can be made by email by calling James toll-free at
